Charles B. Wang Community Health Center Hosts 2024 Good Health Day in Lower Manhattan

The Charles B. Wang Community Health Center (CBWCHC) celebrated its 2024 Good Health Day event on Saturday, August 3, at Sara D. Roosevelt Park in Lower Manhattan. The event, a staple in the community for more than five decades, drew in hundreds of community members for a day of health, wellness, and fun.

“As a federally qualified health center, community health care is at the core of what we do,” said Kaushal Challa, CEO of the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center. “For more than 50 years, it has been our privilege to provide high-quality and affordable healthcare to thousands each year. We could not do it without the outstanding dedication of our staff, partners, and supporters. Successful communities start with healthy communities.”

Good Health Day, an annual Health Center tradition, empowers community residents to take charge and lead healthier lifestyles. Coinciding with the 2024 National Health Center Week, the health fair featured free educational activities and health screenings by CBWCHC care team members and community partners.

Participants learned about the prevention and management of common chronic illnesses, such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease, as well as prenatal care, family planning, child health care, oral care, mental health, social services, health insurance information, and much more.

Health Center Human Resources staff were also available to discuss employment opportunities for a range of exciting positions, including Medical Assistants, Patient Services Representatives, Registered Nurses, Facilities Associates, Custodians, and more.

More than 50 healthcare and social service organizations participated, providing health awareness information alongside local vendors, children's activities, and entertainment. The event featured Zumba, a CPR demonstration, tai chi performed by New York Yang Sheng Tai Chi Qi Gong Corp, a martial arts demonstration, and a Korean Drum Dance performed by EnoB.

Special thanks to the 2024 Good Health Day sponsors: ABI Health Care, Anthem BlueCross BlueShield, Coalition of Asian-American IPA (CAIPA), Chinese American Medical Society (CAMS), CenterLight Healthcare PACE, Cooley’s Anemia Foundation, CP Advanced Imaging, David M. Peterson, P.C., Emblem Health, Fidelis Care, First Chinese Presbyterian Community Affairs Home Attendant Corp, Healthfirst, LiveOnNY, Main Street Radiology, NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital, Pitta & Baione LLP, Royal Care, The Allure Group, True Care, United Health Care, VillageCareMax, VNS Health, and WellCare.
