The Charles B. Wang Community Health Center (CBWCHC) proudly announced that 2024 marks the tenth consecutive year it has been recognized with some of the highest awards bestowed by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. CBWCHC’s consistent commitment to clinical excellence has earned it five distinct awards in HRSA’s 2024 Community Health Quality Recognition program.

Quality Leader – Gold: CBWCHC is recognized as a Health Center Quality Leader, earning the "Gold" badge for being in the top 10% of health centers nationwide for overall clinical quality measures. Only eight health centers in New York state achieved this distinction in 2024.

National Quality Leader – Diabetes: For the second consecutive year, CBWCHC was the sole health center in New York state to receive this prestigious award, highlighting its top-tier performance in diabetes screening and control. Nationwide, only six health centers earned this recognition, underscoring CBWCHC’s leadership in delivering world-class diabetes care.

Health Disparities Reducer: CBWCHC was acknowledged for its success in reducing health disparities, with a focus on improving outcomes in areas such as low birth weight, hypertension control, and diabetes management. The Health Center’s efforts resulted in a minimum 10% improvement in these critical health indicators.

Access Enhancer: This award was granted for increasing access to quality care, with at least a 15% improvement in one or more clinical quality measures, reflecting CBWCHC’s mission to make health care accessible to all.

Advancing Health Information Technology: CBWCHC was also recognized for its leadership in adopting health information technology, which has played a key role in enhancing patient care and service delivery.

“We are honored to receive these awards from HRSA for the tenth consecutive year,” said Kaushal Challa, CEO of the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center. “This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff members, who consistently go above and beyond to improve patient outcomes. Their efforts make a real difference and lead directly to better health, improved quality of life, and lives saved. At the heart of it all is our belief that everyone deserves access to high-quality health care.”

CBWCHC provides a wide range of health care services, including internal medicine, pediatrics, OB/GYN, dental care, primary eye care, and mental health services, and remains deeply committed to addressing health disparities, improving access, and using technology to deliver better patient outcomes.

HRSA annually awards Community Health Quality Recognition badges to health centers that demonstrate improvements across various clinical measures. CBWCHC’s ongoing achievements highlight its role as a leader in community health care both in New York and nationwide.
