Charles B. Wang Community Health Center Hosts Annual Back-to-School Celebrations in Flushing and Chinatown

The Charles B. Wang Community Health Center (CBWCHC) announced Tuesday that it is pleased to invite the community to its annual Back-to-School Celebration. Co-sponsored by Healthfirst, Queens Public Library, and New York City Council Member Sandra Ung, these events aim to ensure children start the school year on the right foot by focusing on health, education, and community resources.

Flushing Back-to-School Celebration

Chinatown Back-to-School Celebration
Date: Saturday, August 24, 2024
Location: Charles B. Wang Community Health Center, 125 Walker Street, 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10013
Time: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Both Back-to-School Celebration events will offer different activities designed to prepare children for a successful academic year. Parents can speak with experienced health educators about required school immunizations and other useful health information such as oral health and healthy eating while children enjoy fun educational games and receive free giveaways.   Families attending the Flushing event can also receive assistance in signing up for a free library card from the Queens Public Library, along with story time, fun reading tips, and giveaways. Applicants interested in a library card will need to bring a picture ID with the current address. If the address is different from the listed address, bring a bill as proof of address dated no more than 60 days ago.

“Starting the school year with a focus on health and education sets a strong foundation for our children’s success,” said Dr. Margaret Wou, the Health Center’s Chief of Pediatrics in Queens and a board-certified pediatrician. “Our Back-to-School Celebrations provide essential resources and support to families, ensuring that every child is ready to learn and thrive.”

The annual Back-to-School Celebration is a beloved tradition in the community. It highlights the Health Center’s commitment to supporting families and promoting the well-being of children. The events foster a sense of community and ensure that every child has the tools they need to succeed in the new school year.
