The Chinatown Health Clinic Foundation (CHCF) will be hosting its annual Gala Dinner in support of the operation and programming of the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center (CBWCHC). CHCF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supporting community-based health care services. The event will have a reception at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7:30 p.m. The dress code will be cocktail attire.

This year, we will celebrate Walter and Shirley Wang for their enormous contributions to improving access to quality health care. In 2024, they made a transformative gift to help fund critical improvements at CBWCHC, including the renovation of the pediatric suite in Manhattan’s Chinatown, the establishment of a new Primary Eye Care Center in Flushing, Queens, and the hiring of additional health care professionals across its six service locations.

In addition, the evening will feature distinguished speakers, including former President of the World Bank and Dartmouth College Dr. Jim Yong Kim and renowned AIDS researcher, physician, and virologist Dr. David Ho. Dr. Kim is an alumnus of CBWCHC’s signature workforce development program, Project AHEAD, and Dr. Ho serves as CHCF’s Advisory Board Chair. Both are leaders in public health and strongly support our mission.

Walter Wang is the CEO and Chairman of North America’s largest plastic pipe manufacturer, JM Eagle. Walter has been a leading supporter of efforts to bring clean water to communities in developing countries worldwide. The Uni-Bell PVC Pipe Association awarded Walter and JM Eagle the Humanitarian Award for such philanthropic efforts. In 2024, Forbes featured Walter in one of its cover stories, highlighting his journey in expanding JM Eagle and his debut on the Forbes 400 list.

Shirley Wang is the founder and CEO of Plastpro Inc., one of the world’s largest fiberglass door manufacturers. Shirley is a trustee at Columbia University, Harvard-Westlake School, the U.S. Olympic Committee, and LA2028. She was the first Asian Chairwoman on the board of the UCLA Foundation and, as part of the UCLA Executive Campaign Committee, helped raise $5.49 billion for UCLA. In 2022, CIO Views listed Shirley among the year’s most admired women business leaders.

Walter and Shirley’s generous support has extended to numerous philanthropic initiatives, encompassing disaster relief, social justice, medical and cancer research, education, and technology. In response to the Los Angeles wildfires in 2025, they have donated $1.5 million to support firefighters and first responders and pledged another $5 million to rebuilding efforts in affected communities. The Wangs have been awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor for their contributions to America.
