Lawrence Shum, D.D.S.

Dr. Shum is a board-eligible dentist that specializes in Pediatric Dentistry.

He provides a wide range of dental services for children, including general examinations, teeth cleaning, dental x-rays, dental fillings, fluoride treatment, behavior guidance, sealants, stainless steel crowns, baby root canals, extractions, space maintainers, nitrous oxide, referrals and care coordination with specialists, and health education to promote oral health.

Dr. Shum strives to practice evidence-based dentistry, aiming for prevention and patient education to help patients and families improve their oral and general health. He focuses on behavior guidance, minimally invasive dentistry, and helping patients with special needs. During his time at the University at Buffalo, he led maternal health classes at the children’s hospital, created mouth guards for local middle and high school basketball teams, and provided dental education to the Amish community of Upstate New York.

When not working, Dr. Shum enjoys traveling, hiking, handball, and swimming.
